Movement
Watch movement is the engine that runs the watch. Mainly the movements can be categorised into two groups: mechanical and quartz. Mechanical movement involves mechanical parts such as gears and springs where quartz movement involves an electric circuit and a battery. The mechanical movement is popular with watch collectors because of craftsmanship and traditional art of micro-engineering. Meanwhile, the quartz movement is reputed for its accuracy and low maintenance cost.
Case size
Case size refers to the diameter of the case. The case size is the width of the case at the widest point of the watch without the crown in millimetres. Men’s watches usually range from 38-46mm meanwhile anything smaller than 38mm is usually found on women's watches.
Glass material
Watch glass or watch crystal is the transparent covering that protects the dial. There are different glass materials with different qualities. Acrylic is a type of plastic that is light and inexpensive. Mineral glass is the most popular for watch glasses because of its hardwearing and affordability. Sapphire crystal is the toughest in watch glasses. It is highly scratch resistant and mostly found on high-end watches. Resin glass is similar to acrylic. It is light, inexpensive and can easily buff out scratches.
